Opening Day at the Outdoor Binford Farmer's Market!

It's that time of year again for the outdoor farmer's market! We are so excited to be back! For the next few weeks, I am going to bring back the favorite cupcake flavors from last year and have more of each flavor so everyone can enjoy the flavors they have missed since market season last year! Once the shop is open, we will start bringing new flavors! We have lots of new ones in store, and we can't wait to share.

Also, due to some out of town weddings, graduations, and preparation for the store opening, we will be missing a few markets over the next few weeks, but after that, we will be there for the rest of the season! We apologize, but we hope you like the idea of being able to come and get cupcakes and other treats any day of the week at our shop and at the market on the weekends.

So, this week, our flavors will be:
- Triple Chocolate
- Chocolate Chip cookie Dough (everyone's favorite!)
- Key Lime
- Vanilla
- Chocolate
- Red Velvet
- Coconut Snowball
- Strawberry Cream
- Carrot Cake
- Chocolate Peanut Butter
- Salted Chocolate Caramel
And, we will try to have Freddy's pupcakes for all the dogs in your family too!

Did you hear??? We have an opening date for the shop. We will open our doors on Monday, June 6th and our Grand Opening will be on Saturday, June 11th! Wait until you hear what we have planned for that day! A quick update on the shop....the ceiling and flooring are almost finished, and our equipment is starting to arrive this week. It's starting to look & feel like a real shop! My parents were nice enough to drive to Ohio to get our lights, tables, & mirror for us since we haven't had time to go and they delivered them to us too! It really took a lot of stress off of me that they did that, and I am so grateful for their help. I seriously cannot tell you how excited I am to share everything with you all!

Also, due to our store opening, we will be unable to take any more custom cake orders from May 28th to June 12th. If I have already talked to you, then you are all set. If you have something you need during that time, e-mail me at mica@confectioneiress.com as soon as possible, and we can let you know if we have an opening.

Thanks again to everyone for your support and excitement for our shop! Hope to see you on Saturday morning...enjoy the rest of your week!

it's getting closer....

The contractors are working like crazy on the shop! I do not get a chance to go by as much as I like so every time I go, I notice huge changes. On Friday, I was able to take them some cupcakes to thank them for all of their hard work (and give them some motivation!), and I got there just in time before the concrete was poured for the plumbing. So, this past week, they finished plumbing, started the HVAC, moved the front door, & got most of the electrical finished. What I am most excited about is that they are starting the dry wall on Tuesday! That will really make it look like our shop.

In the meantime, we are doing all kinds of other stuff to get ready for the shop to open. It is a crazy busy time, but we are loving every second of it! I am particularly excited about the upcoming bridal shows...we now have 2 we are doing coming up, and we have some awesome cake orders coming up too! And, in less than 3 weeks, the Binford Farmer's Market starts, and we are looking forward to seeing you all again.

Now, here are some pictures of the shop from last week!

And, here is the bathroom. They put in a floor drain & were getting ready to have the concrete poured around it.

This is where the display & counters will be!

And, I had to take one of the ceiling too!

I will definitely be going to get pictures of the drywall this week so check back soon for more pictures! In the meantime, if you want to place an order, let us know!

Thanks for taking the time to check on Confectioneiress Cupcakes & Sweets progress :)

Shop Update

It has been only 2 (what seems like short) weeks, and a lot has happened. On my way home this evening, we stopped by the shop, and I was so surprised to see that the demolition is almost completely finished! Last time we were there a few weeks ago, it was a realtor's office....after a day and a half of the demolition, it looks like this:

We got to meet the contractors and everything is moving ahead. For the first time, it felt real that the shop was going to be opening. Seeing the designs on paper is nothing like walking in and seeing the space. I cannot wait to be open! When you walk in the door, this is the view of the store as of right now:

Now that the construction will be starting soon, we will be checking in more often, and I will keep taking pictures of the process.

Here is one of the permit for the demolition (which was up a few weeks ago):

And, the lovely ceiling after the demo...

Hope you enjoyed seeing the progress on our dessert boutique & cake shop. Just a heads up that our website will be down within the next week or so while our new one is designed. You can still reach us at mica@confectioneiress and keep up with new pictures and updates on Facebook.

Also wanted to share my 13 year old niece's cake from this past weekend, which she LOVED!

Thanks for stopping by!

Coming Summer 2011.....

Confectioneiress Cupcakes & Sweets dessert boutique & cake shop! We are SO EXCITED to be sharing this news with everyone! I have had lots of questions so I wanted to explain things more. Our shop will be located in Zionsville Station Shopping Center (behind the McDonalds) off of 334 in Zionsville, IN.

We will be selling a variety of cupcakes, French macarons, whoopie pies, sugar cookies, cheesecake (did you know we make cheesecakes in most flavors that we make cupcakes in?!?) & more. You can come order cupcakes or other sweet treats, drink coffee or hot tea, and hang out with your friends and family in our shop.

Of course, we will still be doing custom cupcakes & cakes, wedding cakes, and treats for any event you can imagine. We are also excited to be offering custom cake design...bring in your invitations, decor for your party, jewelry, or anything that inspires you to a consultation, and we will put together sketches to create a custom design perfect for your event.

Over these next few months, I cannot wait to share with you our new logo, pictures of the construction process, and everything else. Also, just a heads up...our website will be down starting in a few weeks because we are getting a new one designed as well. We will still be adding pictures to our Facebook page and on Flickr and you can still reach us via e-mail at mica@confectioneiress.com. I love the new design and look of Confectioneiress, and I hope you all will too!

We have picked out the flooring, paint, and even got to draw out our own floor plan, and then the counters, lighting, and display set up are next to do! I am continuing to come up with all kinds of new flavor combinations and ideas to share with everyone at the shop. We have some awesome ideas and things will be offering that I can hardly contain myself from not sharing them with you :)

In the meantime, even though we are busy picking out everything for the store, we are taking orders, preparing for wedding season and the local farmer's markets in Indianapolis. Not too much longer and we will be back....less than 8 weeks if you are counting :)

Thank you to everyone for your support. We are so happy to hear that you all are as excited as we are!

farmer's markets

Winter is (hopefully) coming to and end and spring is just around the corner. That means....farmer's market time! We plan on bringing new items and more new flavors of our cupcakes. Last year, we brought over 115 different flavors, and this year won't be any different! We have been coming up with new flavor combinations and new ideas, and we cannot wait to be at the farmer's market.

This year, we will be back at the Binford Farmer's Market at 62nd & Binford Boulevard starting May 7th from 8 am to noon. And, their market season is extended this year until October 29th so you have 6 months to enjoy the market and pick up cupcakes.

We are also excited to announce that we will be part of a BRAND NEW market...the Millersville Cafe Market! This market runs from June 2nd until August 25th on Thursday evenings from 4 pm to 7:30 pm at Fall Creek Parkway & Emerson (one block south of 56th Street). This is a unique farmer's market. Instead of having produce and other items to shop & take home, it is a cafe market with tables set up to enjoy your prepared food and enjoy the local entertainment....more like a pop-up restaurant! There are going to be over 20 vendors there, and we hope that you stop by and enjoy some of our cupcakes for dessert!

Stay posted for more announcements and places you can enjoy our cupcakes and sweets. It is exciting to be expanding so quickly, and we thank you all!

French Macaron Cheeseburgers

With it being the off season for farmer's markets, it has given me more time to make things other than cupcakes. One of my favorite things to make (and eat) are French macarons. I love contrast of the chewy cookie with the creamy filling as well as the endless flavor possibilities. The only down side is, unlike a cupcake, you can't really decorate them too many different ways. They are cute on their own, but I wanted to make them even cuter and festive. This is what we came up with:

These would be adorable on a dessert buffet for a BBQ party, a casual outdoor wedding or engagement party, for 4th of July, or just because! They are made with buttercream & sprinkles so it all tastes good too! Just looking at these make me happy and ready to use the outdoor grill....hurry up summer!

To see more photos of the cheeseburger macarons, check out our Flickr page or our Facebook page. And check back soon for info on upcoming farmer's markets & other exciting news!

Happy Groundhog's Day!

The weather here has been crazy! There is so much ice and now it is snowing. I am definitely ready for winter to be OVER! Today is the day that we find out if we have to put up with this weather for longer or if we can expect an early spring. It's Groundhog's Day! So, what did Punxsutawney Phil predict this year???

Did he see his shadow? Should we expect to see more of the weather we have been having?

Or did we get lucky and he not see his shadow? Could it be that we might have an early spring???

This morning, Phil came out of his cute warm house....

and predicted...

Today, Punxsutawney Phil is my hero. I have been wanting it to be spring since January 1st! Now, I just hope he was right....

If you want to see the full album of these cupcakes or some of our other creations, check out our Flickr account.

Enjoy your day!

this & that.

Hey there...hope everyone has enjoyed the year so far. I cannot believe it is almost February! I wanted to touch base and fill you all in on the happenings going on here.

First of all, it has been a busy start to the year with orders and some other things that I can't wait to share with you later. We have been very surprised by the number of weddings we have been contacted about, and we already have orders for the next six months! I love making cupcakes and cakes and all the other goodies for weddings...and don't forget the bridal showers! They are so much fun. One thing I am most excited about is the chance to do a dessert buffet for a bridal shower. I am going to bake lots of different mini cupcakes & mini desserts and even get to set it all up using fun cake stands. I am starting to collect cake stands like I do shoes so I cannot wait to put them to good use. And, I will make sure and take lots of pictures to share too!

We have also been testing out new flavor combinations and coming up with new recipes. My favorite flavor from the recent ones that we have made would have to be a strawberry cake filled with strawberry coulis topped with matcha frosting. Yummy! And, the color of the frosting is so pretty! It would be fantastic for a spring wedding or shower (baby or bridal!) Sorry for the lack of pictures....they were all gone before I remembered to take a picture. But, I will be making more. I have some other cake flavors I want to try it with.

We have also been shipping out lots of cookies & whoopie pies for the arrivals of babies, birthdays, just because...and you name it! I love being able to package them up and mail them out knowing that someone is going to be surprised when they get the package. I also love making them for favors at weddings, showers, and parties. They can be designed to match any event so if you are interested, let us know!

Lastly, we are already starting to get everything ready for farmer's markets! Believe it or not, they are approaching quickly. We will be announcing as soon as everything is in place what markets (yes...it should be more than one this year!) we will be at. It is exciting that we can share our cupcakes & treats with more people.

Well, that is pretty much it for now. I have lots more to share, but we will save that for a later time. And, don't forget, if you want to place an order for Valentine's Day, there is still some time. Spots are filling up fast, but we still have room. Be sure to read the post about the packages we have & delivery and shipping options. And, due to the overwhelming requests, we have added Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough & Chocolate Peanut Butter to the flavor options. If you want a small cake or something other than the packages we put together, send us an e-mail!

Hope to bake for you soon!

Valentine's Day Orders!

Hope everyone is having a great 2011 so far! I cannot believe that Valentine's Day is only 5 weeks away...it doesn't seem possible! Since it is just around the corner, we figured we better get to telling you about what we will be offering for the special day so you can plan ahead.

Due to it being such a popular holiday to order sweets, we wanted to put together some cupcake & sugar cookie packages to make things easier on you. We will be offering free delivery (to the Indianapolis area) on Sunday, February 13th as well as during the day on Monday, February 14th. That way, you can surprise someone at work with a box of treats!

For the cupcakes, there will also be some new flavors! We have come up with 4 new flavors for you. Our first option will be the assorted cupcake flavor box. This will be available in a box of 6 (includes one of each flavor listed below) or a dozen (which will contain two of each flavor listed below). The cupcake flavors that will be available in the assorted box are:
Red Velvet
White Chocolate Truffle (filled)
Dark Chocolate Truffle (filled)
Chocolate Covered Strawberry
Raspberry Cream Truffle (filled)
Dark Chocolate Merlot (filled)

*Update- Due to a high request, we are also offering Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough & Chocolate Peanut Butter. If you want these in the assortment package, please let us know what you want to substitute. Otherwise, the 6 flavors listed above will be used.

These cupcakes will be decorated with Valentine's decor in pink, red, & white. Even the box will be decorated to fit the holiday and will include a gift tag with a special personalized message of your choice. This would be a great surprise for someone you love or who loves cupcakes!

How would you like to send a dozen roses but you want to do something a little different? Why not send a dozen cupcake roses for someone to enjoy?!?! The cupcake flavors that will be available for the cupcake roses will be:
Raspberry Cream Truffle
Chocolate (with vanilla frosting)
Vanilla (with vanilla frosting)

These will be boxed up in a decorated box with the gift tag & personal message as well.

What about the sugar cookies? In addition to local delivery, we will be offering shipping for the cookies! These will be individually wrapped and packaged up ready to be presented! They will be our soft, thick vanilla sugar cookies in different hearts, X's & O's, lips, cupcakes, and more all decorated for Valentine's Day with sparkly sugar and cute designs & details. These will not just be decorated plain! These too include a gift tag and a personalized message of your choice. Our packages for the cookies can be purchased in a set of six or a dozen. This way, if you want 6 cookies & 6 cupcakes you can do that!

If you want to choose the shipping option for the cookies, please contact us as soon as possible so we can make sure we can get them on our schedule. These cannot be done last minute...plus, we need to make sure and get them to your loved ones on the right date!

We will be taking orders for delivery to the local area (Indianapolis) until Tuesday, February 8th for both cookies & cupcakes. If you want cookies shipped out for Valentine's Day, you have until Friday, February 4th, to place your order.

Feel free to contact us with any questions you many have or to place your order!

UPDATE:
We have had several e-mails and wanted to add a little update on the pricing of these items. For 6 cupcakes or 6 cookies, the price will be $15, and for a dozen cookies or cupcakes, the price will be $30, with the exception of the dozen rose cupcakes which will be $36. The shipping costs for the cookies will have to be determined based on the amount you want to ship and where they are going so you will have to e-mail us with more details so we can get you a price. If you prefer, we will get the cookies packaged and ready to ship, and then get them to you for you to ship. Sorry this was not included in the original post! Thanks so much!
